Neil Gooding Productions was established in 2002. It brings high quality theatrical experiences to Australian and international audiences. We uphold a strong emphasis on the development of new work, focusing particularly on Musical Theatre.
Most recently, Neil Gooding Production co-produced the Australian Premiere of The Bridges of Madison County at Hayes Theatre Co. NGP also co-produced 33 Variations starring Ellen Burstyn at the Comedy Theatre Melbourne to critical acclaim. In 2018, NGP produced the Australian Premier of Stalking The Bogeyman at Sydney's Old Fitz Theatre and in 2017, produced High Fidelity at the Hayes Theatre, which received a nomination for a Sydney Theatre Award. Within the development of new productions, NGP workshopped and produced the World Premiere season of the new Australian musical, The Life of Us (Hayes Theatre Co.), which attended the ASCAP Foundation Musical Theatre Workshop with Stephen Schwartz in 2019.
In the USA, Neil Gooding Productions was a financial investor in The Ferryman, which won 4 Tony Awards, including Best Play. We are currently financial investors in the North American premiere of Room. NGP was one of the producers of Alan Cumming's one-man version of Macbeth which ran for a special 14 week limited season on Broadway as well as the Off-Broadway productions of Handle With Care and The 39 Steps, and a financial investor in It's Only A Play on Broadway. Our company is also a financial investor in the US Tour of The Empire Strips Back. In London's West End, NGP was a producer of hit Australian play Holding The Man, was a finanical investor in Cyrano de Bergerac starring James McAvoy and is currently a co-producer on Back to The Future The Musical at Manchester Opera House.
In May 2015, Neil Gooding Productions presented the critically acclaimed Australian premiere of Dogfight at the Hayes Theatre Co and the Australian Tour of Thank You For Being A Friend. In 2014, our company produced the world premiere of Truth Beauty And A Picture Of You, and co-produced Sweet Charity at the Hayes Theatre Co, alongside Luckiest Productions. Sweet Charity went on to tour the country in 2015 and win 3 Helpmann and 3 Sydney Theatre Awards.
In 2009 Neil Gooding Productions produced the original tour of Breast Wishes - a new Australian musical which went on to complete a six month regional tour in 2011. The company also produced the Australian Premiere of Gutenberg! The Musical which was nominated for numerous Helpmann Awards, Green Room Awards and Sydney Theatre Awards. In 2008, with WhiteBox, NGP produced the world premiere of Rutherford and Millar's The Hatpin starring Caroline O'Connor, Barry Crocker AM and Melle Stewart which then went on to feature at the New York Musical Theatre Festival in September 2008.
